About the film: This is a documentary on the aftermath of India’s biggest and longest oil well fire that happened in Baghjan village in the territorial state of Assam. This production by Raswar Films attempts to highlight the circumstances of the affected Moran people, inhabitants of Baghjan, in the loss of their homes, livestock and livelihoods which were consumed by a fire of over five months. The film also looks at the environmental aspects of the disaster as the eco-sensitive zones namely Dibru- Saikhowa National Park and Maguri-Motapung Wetlands located in close proximity, were also impacted by the spreading inferno. The film triggers us to rethink as to how the wheels of development should progress.

About the filmmaker: Tahin has been working as a television media professional for the last 18 years in Mumbai. She did her Masters in Mass Communication and Journalism from Himachal Pradesh
University (2002) and Diploma in Video Editing from the Film
and Television Institute of India (FTII) Pune (2005-2006).
She is originally from Assam, India. Tahin has made four documentary films till date. The
main focus of my documentaries has been the various issues of my region.
She has worked in the non-fiction genre in various creative capacities (Director, Editor,
Producer) in talent shows such as Indian Idol and India’s Got Talent. Tahin develops fresh
and innovative show formats for television, digital and OTT platforms.
