Du Saraswati

Dr. Du Saraswathi is a feminist writer, theatre artist, and activist. She has been associated with the Women’s Movement and Dalit Movement for the last 25 years. She has published award-winning poetry, fiction and more. She also writes and performs satires in Kannada through the eyes of “Sanntimmi” a village woman, about how Dalit women in villages relate to issues like globalization, gender, sexuality, religion, borders, bombs and beauty. Du Saraswati recently received her PhD for her research work on the cultural lives and struggles of Safari Karmachari communities. She also has been awarded the prestigious Karnataka Sahitya Academy award.
