Surbhi Dewan

Surbhi Dewan is an independent writer, director & producer. Her films explore intersections between socio-political conflict, displacement, memory and identity. Surbhi's notable films include 'Trans Kashmir' (2022), 'Daughter of Nepal' (2018) and 'A Thin Wall' (2015). She is currently working on a film about women who lived, loved and laboured along a historic trans-Himalayan trade route.

Surbhi is also the co-founder of 'Painted Tree Pictures' - a Delhi-based film company. She is a member of IAWRT India chapter, Bitchitra Collective, and co-organiser of Video Consortium Delhi Hub. Surbhi graduated with an MFA in Film from Rochester Institute of Technology, New York, and received her BA degree in Political Science from Lady Shri Ram College, Delhi University.
